Previously published records from Italy: Calabria ( Gerecke & Di Sabatino 2013); Emilia-Romagna ( Gerecke & Di Sabatino 2013, Cantonati et al. 2020); Toscana ( Gerecke & Di Sabatino 2013).

Habitat: Crenobiont; preferably in shaded rheohelocrenes rich in fine mineralic sediments (sand, gravel).

Distribution: Central-and Southern Italy, Corsica.

Genus Mixobates Thor, 1905

Diagnosis: Distribution of membranous integument, and formation of coxae and gnathosoma, as in Hygrobates , but occasionally (not in the Italian species) all coxae fused into a coxal shield. Cx-IV perforated by a large, central glandular opening. I-L-5 distoventrally with a pair of short, thickened setae. Genital field with three pairs of acetabula. Male gonopore completely surrounded by sclerotization, female gonopore in the Italian species flanked by paired genital plates. P-2 with or without ventral projection.

Remark: Described as a subgenus of Hygrobates , later on ranked at genus level ( COOK 1974).
