Diagnosis. Forewing length is 14–15 mm in males and 17–18 mm in females. Females have broader and more diffuse pattern elements than males. This is one of the largest species in the group. Externally, it is similar to B. parameia and large specimens of B. speideli sp. n., but differs from B. parameia by its narrower and less diffuse longitudinal strokes on veins in the submarginal areas of both wings (while in B. parameia those are broader, diffuse and merged into broad blackish shades with thin white strokes between veins); in comparison to B. speideli sp. n., B. maculifasciata has larger size, slightly more diffuse pattern and slightly more elongated forewing apex. The male genitalia are similar to those of B. parameia , but can be distinguished by their narrower uncus, narrower valva and slightly shorter cluster of cornuti in vesica. The female genitalia of B. maculifasciata differ from those of B. parameia by their broader lateral lobes of antrum, narrower anterior part of antrum and larger appendix bursae.

Distribution. South Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia (Malay Peninsula) ( Hampson 1894; Holloway 1982; Černý & Pinratana 2009; Bucsek 2014). The record for China ( Fang 2000) needs confirmation as may belong to B. speideli sp. n.
