Ariadna weaveri Beatty, 1970: 464 View in CoL , figs 50, 53, 56. (♂ holotype from Clarion Island [18°22'N; 114°44'W], ReVillagigedo Islands, Mexico, 7‒8.V.1955, McDonald & Blodget leg., deposited in AMNH, not examined. Paratype: 1♂ 6♀, same data from holotype, deposited in AMNH, examined).— World Spider Catalog (2018).
Diagnosis. Ariadna weaveri is similar to A. bicolor , A. comata and A. pilifera due to the morphology of the male palp ( Figs 13A‒B View FIGURE 13 , 28A‒B View FIGURE 28 , 42A‒B View FIGURE 42 ) and macrosetae pattern of the tibia II of females, but differ by the presence of males with the metatarsi I nearly straight, without macrosetae or apophyses ( Fig. 41C‒E View FIGURE 41 ); females differ by presenting two lobes with similar sizes and sinuous, not expanded ( Fig. 42C‒D View FIGURE 42 ).
Description. Male (Paratype). Carapace and chelicerae orange ( Fig. 41A View FIGURE 41 ). Endites yellow; labium dark yellow. Sternum light orange, with darker margins, and marbled with darker pigment ( Fig. 41B View FIGURE 41 ). Palps light yellow ( Fig. 42A‒B View FIGURE 42 ). Legs yellow, with pairs I‒II darker ( Fig. 41C‒E View FIGURE 41 ). Abdomen grey, dorsal and ventrally, lighter laterally ( Fig. 41A‒B View FIGURE 41 ). Total length 5.16; carapace 2.04 long, 1.52 wide. Chelicerae projected ( Fig. 41A View FIGURE 41 ). Palps: tibia slightly incrassated, with the dorso-ventral diameter less than half of the bulb; bulb rounded, mid-portion curved and slightly shorter than the embolus; embolus tubular and thickened; ( Fig. 42A‒B View FIGURE 42 ). Legs: slender and sparsely coated with setae ( Fig. 41C‒E View FIGURE 41 ); tarsal brush of putative chemosensory setae present on legs II‒IV, but reduced on pair II. Leg formula: I-II-IV-III. Leg measurements: I, femur 2.4, patella 0.84, tibia 2.0, metatarsus 2.0, tarsus 0.64, total 7.88; II, 2.2, 0.8, 2.08, 2.0, 0.64, 7.72; III, 1.56, 0.64, 1.08, 1.12, 0.48, 4.88; IV, 1.88, 0.84, 1.48, 1.24, 0.48, 5.92. Sternum orange, with darker margins, and marbled with darker pigment ( Fig. 41G View FIGURE 41 ). Palps orange, gradually darkening to distal direction. Legs orange, with pairs I‒II darker ( Fig. 41H‒I View FIGURE 41 ). Abdomen as in male ( Fig. 41F‒G View FIGURE 41 ). Total length 9.4; carapace 4.3 long, 2.65 wide. Carapace with wavy margins. Chelicerae not projected ( Fig. 41F View FIGURE 41 ). Sternum as in male ( Fig. 41G View FIGURE 41 ).
