Ficus ajajuensis Dugand (1944: 439)

Lectotype (designated here):— COLOMBIA. Vaupes, border of Comisaría del Vaupés and Comisaría del Caquetá, Río Ajajú , near mouth of Río Yaya , 3 June 1943, R. E. Schultes 5530 (lectotype: COL 15655 !, isolectotypes: COL 15656 !, COL 35869 !, COL 35870 !, F 1435861 !).

Nomenclatural notes:— In the protologue it is mentioned that the holotype of Ficus ajajuensis was deposited in the herbarium COL ; however, there are four specimens of Schultes 5530 deposited in COL and no annotations can give a hint of a possible holotype. There is neither clear indication on the label suggesting these four preparations are parts of the same specimen nor a single original label in common ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 8.3) ; therefore, we consider them as duplicates. Based on this, we designate here the specimen Schultes 5530 ( COL 15655 ) as a lectotype because this specimen is the most complete and contains branches with syconia, leaves and stipules .

Taxonomical notes:— Ficus ajajuensis is synonimized as Ficus trigona by Berg & Villavicencio (2004).
