Trichilia leucastera Sandwith , Bulletin Misc. Inf. Kew 328 (1933). Type:— GUYANA, Simuni Creek, Rupununi river, fl, Davis in Forest Department 2140 (holotype, K).
Field Characters. Tree to 25 m high and 30 cm diam., trunk sometimes fluted at base, bark smooth, brown and hard, slash pink; flowers scented, greenish-white to white and capsule maturing brown, opening to expose the red seeds. Flowering recorded January to Febuary. and July–August, mature fruit January–April.
Distribution. Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana and Maranhão, Brazil.
