Diagnosis: This species can be separated from most congeneric species by the presence of cone-shaped tubercles on the posterior corners of the carapace. There are three other Opopaea species ( O. diaoluoshan sp. nov., O. gibbifera Tong & Li, 2008 and O. vitrispina sp. nov.) with similar characters. O. cornuta can be distinguished from them by the following characters: large tubercles on carapace (compare Figs 1I –L View FIGURES 1 A – U ), clypeus height about 2.5 times of ALE diameter ( Figs 1B, K View FIGURES 1 A – U ), epigastric area of female with a dark spot on postgynal plate ( Fig. 2D View FIGURES 2 A – G ) and outgrowths on male palpal embolus ( Figs 2A, B View FIGURES 2 A – G ).
