Reference number of holotype: MNCN 20.02/17397; 2 male paratypes ( MNCN 20.02/17398; MNCN 20.02/17399); 2 deutonymph paratypes ( MNCN 20.02/17400; MNCN 20.02/17401).
Etymology. The specific name parabrevicollis refers to the similarity of this new species with Metaseiulus brevicollis González & Schuster.
Comments. Metaseiulus parabrevicollis sp. n. belongs to the brevicollis species group with seta R1 inserted on dorsal shield in the female ( Chant & McMurtry, 1994) and resembles M. brevicollis . It differs by having the calyx of spermatheca dish-shaped instead of bell-shaped, seven instead of eight setae on genu II and only one macroseta on leg IV. Both species have five pairs of dorsal solenostomes, but in M. brevicollis gd1 is absent and gd5 present while in M. parabrevicollis gd1 is present and gd5 absent.
