REMARKS

This species was described from sketches, notes and seeds brought from SE tropical Africa by Sir John Kirk ( Baker 1894). The name is based on a packet of seeds which matches E. gilletii , but the description can only refer to E. edule ( Baker & Simmonds 1954) , i.e. E. ventricosum .
