Diagnosis. Frontal setae 4 pairs, 2nd and 4th pairs strong; post-sutural acrostichal setae with 5 to 6 misaligned rows; supra-alar setae 2, 2nd seta same size as the prealar; post-supra-alar setae 2; hind femur on AV surface with row of 6 setae on apical third, last 4 setae stronger; P surface with 1 preapical seta.

Description. Male (holotype): length: body: 4.0mm, wing: 3.5mm. Male paratypes: body length: 3–5 mm, wing: 3–4 mm.

Coloration. Head. Fronto-orbital plate with brown/black background and grayish pruinosity. Antenna yellow brown, with grayish pruinosity. Arista brownish with lighter ring just above base, base brown. Lunule brownish, with or without grayish pruinosity. Thorax black with pruinose stripe reaching presutural dorsocentral setae, with 2 black stripes. Wing hyaline or slightly darkened on costal region. Fore and mid tibia brown.

Thorax. Intra-alar setae 1+2. Postpronotal lobe with 2 setae. Anepisternum with 6 setae. Katepisternal setae 1+1, with a setulose area.

Legs. Mid femur on V surface with row of spaced setae, PV surface with row of long and spaced setae up to basal half and 1 preapical seta; tibia on D surface with 1 preapical seta, PD surface with 1 apical seta. Hind femur not swollen, D surface with 1 preapical seta, V surface without strong setae, PV surface with 2 preapical setae, PD surface with 1 preapical seta; tibia on AD surface with 4 setae on apical half, 2 more developed, anterior surface with 1 apical seta, V and PV surfaces without strong setae.

Abdomen. Fifth sternite subquadrate on anterior margin, posterior margin with digitiform extensions forming a 45-degree angle ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 21–24 ). Terminalia. Cercal plate rounded externally on posterior margin ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29–32 ). Surstyli with a notch and curved towards center of cercal plate ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29–32 ). Phallus straight and apically curvilinear, pregonite flattened basally, distiphallus membranous with denticles ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 37–40 ).

Etymology. The specific epithet, ananas , refers to the type-locality of the holotype (from Latin: ananas = pineapple), in Rio Abacaxis, municipality of Borba, Amazonas, Brazil.
