5. Limonium fragile View in CoL group.―The species in this group form small , verrucate plants with delicate stems that are fragile at the nodes. The stems have few sterile branches, the leaves are small and usually dry at flowering, and the spikes are short. The only recorded chromosome number in this group is that one of L. fragile (2n = 43), a rare species occurring on Karpathos, Crete and Antikythira. Other species in this group are L. athinense from Sterea Ellas near Athens, L. dolihiense from Ikaria, L. xerocamposicum from SE Crete, and L. microcycladicum found on Iraklia and Schinousa (Microcyclades).
