Diagnosis. Length of forewing is 11 mm in males and 14.5–15.5 mm in females. Externally, the species is very similar to B. fansipana sp. n., and can be separated only by the genitalia structure. The male genitalia of B. anomala differ from those of B. fansipana sp. n. in the longer uncus, much broader valva, absence of a transtillar lobe, the larger medial costal process which is tubercle-like and setose, the blunt and less sclerotized distal costal process, the much smaller, not curved and not setose distal saccular process, configuration of the diverticula of vesica, and the much smaller bunch of spine-like cornuti on the longest diverticulum. The female genitalia of B. anomala differ clearly from those of B. fansipana sp. n. in the different shape of the antevaginal plate, the longer corpus bursae, the weaker scobination on the anterior section of corpus bursae, and the smaller signum. The differences from other members of the B. cardinalis – anomala 'species-complex' are described in the diagnosis of the species-group.
Distribution. Bhutan, NE India (north of West Bengal, Sikkim) ( Elwes 1890; Hampson 1900). Remark. The species was erroneously treated by Kirti & Singh (2016) as ' Barsine longstriga '.
