This name was introduced conditionally for an adult female (50 mm long, 47 leg pairs) of Mecistocephalus from ‘Botel Tobago’ (Taiwan) possibly belonging to a new species. It was not used further in literature and is unavailable according to Article 15.1 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999), as it was proposed conditionally after 1960.

Worth notice is that no species of Mecistocephalus with 47 leg pairs is known to occur in either Taiwan or Japan.
