Epeorus View in CoL View at ENA ( Caucasiron ?) papillatus Braasch, 2006a
Diagnosis: The species Epeorus (C.) papillatus could be identified by the following combination of characters: in larva (i) gills II–VII with papillae; and (ii) presence of spines on posterior margin of abdomen.
Distribution: India (Sikkim).
Remarks: The larva of this species was described from Sikkim by Braasch (2006a). Adult stages are unknown. The subgeneric attribution remains uncertain since Braasch (2006a, p. 80) indicated that gills lack any antero-lateral processes (“Kiemen [II-VII] ohne [anterolateraler, zäpfchen- bzw. daumenartiger Fortzatz] Prozessus”) which is the apomorphic character of Caucasiron . This problem will only be solved once more material is available.
