Diagnosis. Colony initially encrusting, sheet-like, tending to produce erect bilamellar or unilamellar frondose or vincularian lobes. Zooids rectangular with a variably developed granular cryptocyst, with or without denticles, and lacking spine-like tubercles at the corners of the zooids. Skeleton calcitic, ultrastructure laminar with tablets flattened parallel to wall surfaces ( Taylor & Monks 1997).
