Herina gyrans (Loew, 1864) View in CoL
Castelo Branco (municipality) – Almaceda (parish) – Almaceda. 21-August-2010, 40° 0' 36.15" N, 7° 39' 42.02" W [Google Earth], 4 specimens, Jorge Almeida leg. ( CJM) GoogleMaps .
This species was known only from Croatia and Spain [ Carles-Tolrá & Kameneva, 2008; Kameneva, 2007]. Portugal is now the third country where Herina gyrans has been found in Europe. The specimens were collected near a stream on Mentha sp. by sweeping with an entomological net, by Jorge Almeida, Paulo Rodrigues and Pedro Pires.
