Description. Length 4.0– 4.5 mm. Body black to reddish black; head black, abdomen almost black to reddish black, antennae and legs yellow, elytra yellow except for each lateral darker region ( Figs. 2b View FIGURE 2 and 4b View FIGURE 4 ). Head. Eye large, about 1.7 times as long as temples. Distance between a pair of pores longer than distance between pore and head lateral margin. Antennae about as long as head and pronotum combined; antennomere 4 longer than wide, 5–7 subquadrate, 8–10 slightly to distinctly transverse ( Fig. 4a View FIGURE 4 ). Mouthparts. Labrum with α-sensillum about as long as ε-sensillum. Maxillary palpomere 2 about 2.8 times as long as wide, 3 about 3.0 times as long as wide. Labium with palpomere 1 about 2.5 times as long as wide, 2 about 1.3 times as long as wide, 3 slightly shorter than 1, about 2.3 times as long as wide. Mentum with 10+10 (or 10+11) macrosetae on each side of midline. Thorax. Metanotal scutum with 1 long seta and about 3–5 short setae on each side of midline. Mesoventral process rounded at apex, slightly longer than metaventral process, shorter than isthmus and metaventral process combined ( Fig. 4c View FIGURE 4 ); isthmus distinctly shorter than metaventral process ( Fig. 4c View FIGURE 4 ). Elytron approximately 1.8 times as long as wide ( Fig. 4b View FIGURE 4 ), flabellum composed of about 9 setose lobes. Legs. Length ratio of tarsomeres 36:36:36:136 (front tarsus); 40:40:34:37:90 (middle tarsus); 48:48:36:36:103 (hind tarsus). Abdomen. Sternite VIII with about 6 macrosetae on each side of midline. Secondary sexual characteristics. Male sternite VIII with posterior margin apically rounded ( Fig. 4e View FIGURE 4 ); female sternite VIII posterior margin triangularly produced apically and pointed medially ( Fig. 4f View FIGURE 4 ). Median lobe as in Figs. 4g and 4h View FIGURE 4 . Spermatheca as in Fig. 4i View FIGURE 4 .

Type material. Holotype: ³, labeled as follows: “AUS: Cloudy Bay , Bruny Is, SE Tas, A.W. Osborn 10.vi.2018, QVM:2018:12:0738; HOLOTYPE Iotarphia magna Song and Ahn 2019 ”. Designed by J.-H. Song and K.-J. Ahn 2020 (deposited in QVMAG) . Paratypes: 3³ 4♀, same data as holotype (3 in QVMAG and 4 in CNUIC), 3³ QVM:2018:12:0714, 0722, 0736, 0738 (2 in QVMAG and 1 in CNUIC; 4♀ QVM:2018:12:0704, 0708, 0735, 0743 (2 in QVMAG and 2 in CNUIC).

Distribution. Australia (Tasmania).

Etymology. The name of this species is formed from the Latin adjective magna meaning large, referring to the relatively large body of this species.
