Scutomegninia ajajana ( Novaes and Carvalho, 1952)

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Platalea ajaja Linnaeus ( Pelecaniformes : Threskiornithidae ) from Brazil (Para) ( Novaes & Carvalho 1952). It was recorded from the same host in Cuba ( Č erný 1967), USA (Texas), and Colombia (Dept. Magdalena, El Difícil) ( Mironov 2000).

Scutomegninia microfalcifera Mironov, 1990

Hosts and distribution. This species was originally described ex Phalacrocorax auritus cincinatus (Brandt) ( Suliformes : Phalacrocoracidae ) from Canada, ex Ph. a. auritus (Lesson) and Ph. a. floridanus (Audubon) from USA (Missisippi and Florida, respectively) ( Mironov 1990). It was also recorded ex Ph. brasilianus brasilianus (Gmelin) ( Ph. olivaceus in the original paper) from USA (Texas) and Colombia (Dept. Bolívar, Simití) ( Mironov 2000).

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Phimosus infuscatus berlepschi Hellmayr ( Pelecaniformes : Threskiornithidae ) from Colombia (Dept. Magdalena, El Difícil) ( Mironov 2000).

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Theristicus caudatus caudatus (Boddaert) ( Pelecaniformes : Threskiornithidae ) from Colombia (Dept. Magdalena, Camperucho; Dept. Valle del Cauca, Cali, Río Pance), Brazil (Para), ex T. c. hyperorius Todd from Bolivia (Santa Cruz), and ex T. melanopis melanopis (Gmelin) from Argentina (Río Negro) ( Mironov 2000).

Material examined. Ex Thalasseus maximus (Boddaert) ( Charadriiformes : Laridae ): 3 males and 7 females, Dept. Valle del Cauca: Buenaventura, Limones, 6 November 1986, coll. L.G. Naranjo, UV No. 4776. New host record.

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Hydropogne caspia (Pallas) and Gelochelidon nilotica (Gmelin) ( Charadriiformes : Laridae ) from Russia ( Mironov 1989). Later on, this mite was found on the first host in the USA (Oregon) and ex Larus californicus Lawrence from the USA (Washington) ( Bridge 2002).

Material examined. Ex Leucophaeus atricilla (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes : Laridae ): 1 male and 2 females, Dept. Valle del Cauca, Buenaventura, Punta Soldado, 2 October 1980, coll. F. Borrero & Y. Herrán, UV No. 4649. New host record.

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Chroicocephalus ridibundus (Linnaeus) ( Charadriiformes : Laridae ) from Russia (Volga delta and Transbaikalia), with additional records from this country ex Larus crassirostris Vieillot (Primorie) , L. canus Linnaeus (Primorie) , L. argentatus antelius Iredale (Novosibirsk Province), L. a. vegae Palmén (Transbaikalia), L. fuscus Linnaeus (Kaliningrad and Leningrad Provinces), L. glaucoides Meyer (Novaya Zemlia) , L. hyperboreus Gunnerus (Vrangel Island), Ichthyaetus ichthyaetus (Pallas) (Volga delta), I. melanocephalus (Temminck) from Ukaine (Crimea), Chroicocephalus genei Brême (south of the Caspian sea), Saundersilarus saundersi (Swinhoe) (Primorie) , Hydrocoloeus minutus (Pallas) (Novosibirsk Province), Rissa tridactyla (Linnaeus) (Vrangel Island), Ri. brevirostris (Bruch) (Taimyr Peninsula), Rhodostethia rosea (MacGillivray) (Vrangel Island), Xema sabini (Sabine) (Vrangel Island), and from the USA (California) ex Larus delawarensis Ord , L. occidentalis Audobon , and L. heermanni Cassin ( Mironov 1989) .

Hosts and distribution. This species was described ex Oceanodroma melania melania (Bonaparte) ( Procellariiformes : Hydrobatidae ) and O. furcata (Gmelin) from Russia ( Mironov 1989).
