DESCRIPTION. — Reddish or dark brown. Vestiture consisting of a thin pile of bifid setae evenly dispersed over the elytra, a row of longer, backwards curved bifid setae lining the basal margin of elytra, and simple, undivided, nonclaviform long, nearlky straight setae on rostrum, pronotum and elytra, the setae longer and evenly spaced on dorsal interstriae. Head and forehead finely strigose. Eyes small, with a dozen or so ommatidia. Scrobes smooth and shiny all the way to eyes. Elytra lacking elevations or clusters of specialized setae.
Length: 1.9-2.4 mm.
TYPE MATERIAL. — Holotype 1.9 x 1.0 mm, data as above, NZAC. 9 paratypes with BPBM, IRSN, NZAC.
MATERIAL EXAMINED. — New Caledonia. 10 specimens (not sexed), Pic d’Amoa near Poindimié, 500 m, 26.X.1978, sample 78/254, G. Kuschel .
ETYMOLOGY. — The species epithet ‘parvióculis’ is an adjectivised Latin noun derived from ‘parvus’ = small, and ‘oculus’ = eye.
REMARKS. — All the specimens were obtained from a sample of sifted leaf litter taken in rainforest under Nothofagus aequilateralis and Agathis .
