Type locality. French Guiana, Cayenne. Distribution. Mexico (Chiapas, Jalisco, Michoacán [new record], Tabasco, Veracruz), Guatemala (Escuintla, San Marcos, Santa Rosa), El Salvador (Usulután), Nicaragua (Jinotega), Costa Rica (Cartago, Limon, San José), Panama (Colon, Panama), Bolivia (Cochabamba), Venezuela (Aragua, Bolívar, Carabobo, Falcón, Mérida, Miranda, Monagas, Táchira, Trujillo), French Guiana, Peru (Satipo), Brazil (Alagoas, Amazonas , Bahia , Ceará, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo), Argentina ( Misiones ).

Remarks. This is the unique species of the genus Compsibidion Thomson, 1864 recorded in Mexico ( Pérez-Flores et al. 2021). Most species are distributed in South America and only three species have been recorded in Central America.
