Type species: Hemisphragia debilis Townes, 1962 , by original designation.
The genus Hylophasma belongs to the large worldwide subtribe Goryphina ; in the Americas this subtribe is represented by only six genera ( Yu et al. 2016). Of these, Hylophasma is a small genus comprising seven species: one species is known from the USA ( Townes & Townes 1962: 378), five species occur in Mexico (including a new species described in this paper) and one species was recently described from China ( Wang et al. 2019).
