Distribution: India: Sikkim, Nagaland ( Hampson, 1892; László et al., 2007). Elsewhere: Nepal ( László et al., 2007).
Remark: Further subspecies are P. lichenea splendida László, Ronkay, Ronkay & Witt, 2007 from N. Vietnam, N. Thailand, China-Yunnan and Myanmar and P. lichenea tsinlinga László, Ronkay, Ronkay & Witt, 2007 from East China ( László et al., 2007).
