Type species. Notonyx nitidus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 , by monotypy.
Remarks. For a definition of Notonyx , see Clark & Ng (2006: 540), Castro (2007: 754) and Ng & Clark (2008: 21). Six species are now known in the genus: N. gigacarcinicus Clark & Ng, 2006 , N. kumi Naruse & Maenosono, 2009 , N. latus Ng & Clark, 2008 , N. nitidus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 , and N. vitreus Alcock, 1900 . In view of the new species being described by Rahayu & Ng (2010) and others now being studied by various workers, a key to the genus is perhaps premature at this stage of the study.
