Type material. CHINA, Yunnan: Holotype ♂, Yexianggu (22.17 °N, 100.87°E), Xishuangbanna, 762 m, 22.VII.2019, leg. KJ Teng, slide No. TZL19379 GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 2♂, same data as holotype, slide Nos. TZL19143, TZL20658 GoogleMaps ; 1♂, Linjiapu, Tengchong , 2144 m, 15.VIII.2014, leg. KJ Teng et al., slide No. TZL19711 .

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to P. palliptera in appearance. It can be distinguished from the latter by the basal process of the costa apically pointed, the absence of a process beyond the basal process, and the saccus rounded at apex. In P. palliptera , the basal process of the costa is rounded apically, the costa has a triangular process beyond the basal process, and the saccus is widened apically.

Description. Male adult ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 4–9 ). Wingspan 14.0–15.0 mm. Head white. Antenna with scape brown except yellow on anterior and posterior margins; flagellum yellow ringed with blackish brown. Labial palpus white; second segment black on basal half, with a black ring near apex. Thorax yellowish white; tegula white with scattered black scales on basal half. Forewing white, with pale yellow luster and distinct black scales; costal margin with a black spot at base as well as at basal 2/5, 3/5 and 3/4 respectively, third and fourth spots connected posteriorly by dense black scales; discal, discocellular, plical and tornal spots black, large and subrounded; dorsum with a black spot at base; 4–5 subterminal median-sized black spots extending from distal 1/5 of costal margin to beyond tornus; terminal dots black, running from apex along termen to subterminal dot beyond tornus; fringe pale yellowish brown, with irregular black speckles medially. Hindwing greyish brown; fringe deep brown. Fore- and midlegs with femora black on dorsal margin, greyish white on ventral surface, tibiae yellow, black at middle on dorsal surface, tarsi yellow on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface except yellow at apex of each tarsomere; hindlegs yellow, black on outer surface of tibia and at apex of each tarsomere.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–15 ). Uncus triangular, wide at base, narrowed to apex. Tegumen narrowed medially; lateral arm narrowed to apex. Valva wide at base, narrowed to basal 1/3, widened from basal 1/3 to obtusely rounded apex, densely setose; costa concave at basal 1/3, sinuate basally; basal process, spine shaped, shorter than saccus; sacculus very narrow, reaching middle of ventral margin of valva. Juxta slightly concave in middle on anterior margin. Saccus slightly longer than half length of uncus, stout, parallel to rounded apex. Phallus slightly shorter than valva, broadly tubular; cornuti composed of a bunch of fine spines ( Fig. 11a View FIGURES 10–15 ).

Female unknown.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet of the new species is derived from the Latin novi- and the name of its closely allied species palliptera , referring to the similarities of the two species.
