Diagnosis.
This species can be easily distinguished from other Cryptogonus species by its elytral pattern and male genitalia. Elytra black, each with four yellowish brown spots arranged as in Fig. 2a View FIGURE 2 , penis guide on ventral view is relatively long and nearly triangular ( Fig. 2g View FIGURE 2 ). The elytral pattern is unique and has not been observed in any other Aspidimerini species.
Description. TL: 2.02 mm, TW: 1.65 mm, TH: 0.89 mm, HW: 0.76 mm, TL/TW: 1.22, PL/PW: 0.39, EL/TW: 1.01.
Body rounded, densely covered with white pubescence ( Fig. 2a View FIGURE 2 ). Head, antennae and mouth-parts yellow, clypeus light brown. Pronotum black except for a sub-triangular yellow spots at anterior corners ( Figs. 2b, c View FIGURE 2 ). Elytra black, each with four yellowish spots ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 a–c). Underside black except for abdomen and legs, partially yellow to dark brown.
Head small, 0.6 times of pronotal width (HW/PW= 0.6) ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 a–c). Head with fine punctures, same size as eye facets, separated by 1.5–2.0 its diameters. Eyes densely faceted with small interfacetal hairs, interocular distance about 0.5 times of head width ( Fig. 2b View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotum width 0.77 times of total width (PW/TW= 0.77), pronotal punctures fine, same as those on head, 1.0–2.0 diameters apart. Prosternal process distinct with two pairs of carinae. Elytral punctures coarser than on pronotum, separated by 1.5–2.5 its diameters. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, extending to 4/7 length of ventrite 1 ( Fig. 2d View FIGURE 2 ).
Male genitalia. Penis slender, with apex curved outwardly. Penis capsule with inner arm well-developed, outer arm reduced. The length of tegminal strut nearly equal to the length of tegmen. Penis guide stout, in lateral view slightly curved inwardly, distinctly longer than parameres, in ventral view sharply narrowing to rounded apex forming cone shape ( Figs. 2g, i View FIGURE 2 ).
Type Material. Holotype, Male, PAKISTAN: (Punjab). Bhalwal, [32°17′12.12″N, 072°57′55.63″E], ca. 197m, 21.X.2015, Huo L., leg.
Distribution: Pakistan (Punjab).
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the type locality “Bhalwal”.
