Known distribution. A relatively widespread but apparently uncommon species, reported from the American ( Grenada, Trinidad, U.S.A.) and Asian continents ( China, Indonesia, Japan) on the posterior legs of various species of Laccophilus ( Shen & Ye 2006) .
New record from Sierra Leone. Southern Province, Gola Rainforest National Park, near Sileti Camp, 29.I.2013, W. Rossi , on the distal spine of the right posterior tibia of Laccophilus leonensis .
Remarks. The new record from Sierra Leone is the first for Africa of this large and unmistakable species.
