Known distribution. Described from India on “ Gryllotalpa africana ”, later reported on the same insect from China and more recently on G. cf. insulana Chopard from Cambodia ( Try et al. 2017).

New records from Sierra Leone. Northern Province, near the village of Kondembaia in the Loma Mts. area, 29.XI.1983, W. Rossi , on the hairs of the abdominal appendages, of the ventral portion of the abdomen and of the basal portion of median legs of G. africana ; Southern Province, Kangari Hills near Baomahun, 4.XI.1991, W. Rossi , on the hairs of the ventral portion of the abdomen of G. africana .

Remarks. First record for Africa. Tettigomyces indicus was found on different parts of the body of the host insect, but only on thin hairs.
