Tettigomyces intermedius Thaxter, Memoirs View in CoL of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 14: 543, 1926.
Known distribution. Like other species in the same genus, T. intermedius was described on “ Gryllotalpa africana ” from Indonesia and subsequently reported only from China on the same host insect ( Shen & Ye 2006).
New record from Sierra Leone. Southern Province, Gola Rainforest National Park, near Sileti camp, 7.V.2014, C. Belcastro, on the ventral side of the abdomen near the tip of G. africana .
Remarks. The thalli identified as Tettigomyces intermedius are about half millimeter long, have a small appendage soon disorganized, and the perithecial wall cells not prominent. These features are consistent with the original description of the species, which was reported by Thaxter as the “least well defined” of the group.
