Specimens collected. Five females on Pinus sp. ( Pinaceae ) in Parc des Cévennes, France (44°05’47.3”N, 3°33’03.7”E) on 14/09/2017.
Known distribution. Algeria, Azerbaijan.
Measurements (2 females) ( Figs 1–6 View FIGURES 1–6 )
Dorsum. Dorsal shield 355, 360 long and 185, 190 wide (at level of setae s4), slightly reticulated, mainly on the opisthonotal part, with five solenostomes (gd2, gd4, gd6, gd8 and gd9), 18 pairs of dorsal setae and two pairs of sub-lateral setae: j1 28; j3 33, 34; j4 17; j 5 16, 17; j6 18; J2 23; J 5 10, 11; z2 17; z 3 23, 24; z 4 22, 26; Z4 33; Z5 50, 54; s 4 26, 27; s6 26; S2 27; S4 24; S 5 16, 17; r 3 25, 26; R 1 23, 24. All setae smooth, except Z5 which is slightly serrated. Peritreme extending forwards to the bases of the setae j1.
Ventral idiosoma. Sternal shield smooth with three pairs of setae (st1, st2, st3); setae st4 tylochorous (on platelets). Genital shield smooth with a clear indentation posterior to setae st5. Genital sigilla (1–3 pairs) clearly visible. 4 th and 5 th pairs of genital sigilla clearly visible between the bases of the setae ZV1. The 6 th pair of sigilla posteroparaxial to the bases of the setae ZV1. Ventrianal shield pentagonal, 117, 114 long and 101, 100 wide (at level of setae ZV2), with four pairs of pre-anal setae, JV1, JV2, JV3 and ZV2; solenostome gv3 absent. JV5 46, 48 long.
Chelicera. Fixed digit 30, 33 long with three teeth between pilus dentilis and the apical tooth. Movable digit, 30, 32 long, with two teeth.
Legs. Genu II with seven setae, 2 2/0 2/0 1. Leg IV with three macrosetae: SgeIV 28, 31, StiIV 30, 35, StIV 61, 66 (rounded tip).
Insemination apparatus. Major duct membranous and short, receptaculum visible in most of the specimens. Atrium differentiated, included within the basis of calyx. Minor duct visible. The basis of the calyx is membranous at level of the atrium, afterwards it becomes sclerotised. The shape of the calyx is campanulate, 18 long and 9 wide.
Remarks. The measurements and other morphological characters of the two specimens examined here generally fit the original description of this species. This species is close to Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) clairathiasae Wainstein & Arutunjan , differing from it by having its setae longer, especially Z4, and by the presence of macrosetae on leg IV. This is the first report of this species from France.
