Ctenodontina maya Carrera & d’Andretta, 1953 View in CoL
( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 )
Ctenodontina maya Carrera & d’Andretta, 1953: 75 View in CoL (orig. des.). Type-locality: Peru, Huánuco, Tingo María. Holotype in Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZUSP); Lamas, 1973: 276; Papavero, 2009: 30; Vieira, 2012: 2; Vieira et al. 2017: 280.
Catostola maya View in CoL ; Hull, 1962: 482.

Comments: This species can be easily recognized by the very pronounced swelling on the hind femora of males ( Fig. 5B,C View FIGURE 5 ) and by the characteristic epandrium with an indentation at mid-length on its dorsal margin and with a rounded apex ( Fig. 5D,E View FIGURE 5 ).
Distribution ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ). Peru, departments of Cuzco, Huánuco and Ucayali (?). In all the material examined, only a single specimen was collected at an altitude lower than 600 m (at Middle of River Ucayali). All other specimens were collected at altitudes above 600 m. Taking into account this fact and the other label data, we presume that C. maya occurs mostly at higher elevations than C. carrerai , perhaps with overlaps in their occurrence at mid-elevations. However, the available specimens of both species are few, consequently, any assumptions in this matter are uncertain, and can be improved with additional material from more collecting sites.
