Galeatylinae subfam. nov.
Diagnosis: Atylidae with strong rostrum and well developed eyes; article 2 of peduncle of antenna 1 shorter than article 1; molar with 3-articulate palp; lower lip with well developed inner lobes; complex stubby pereopods 3–7; urosomites 2 and 3 coalesced; urosomites 1 and ‘2’ with tall rounded dorsal projection; uropods of subequal length, reaching beyond short cleft telson. Gills normal oval plates.
