Description:

Female: Holotype ( Figure 1 View Figures 1–3 ). Body length, 1.23 mm (paratype, 1.13–1.28 mm). Head dark brown to black, frons light bluish, eyes grey, ocelli brown, mandibles brown. Antenna dark brown with white bristles. Mesosoma dark brown to black. Wings hyaline. All legs brown to dark brown. Metasoma dark brown to black.

Head: Head, in dorsal view 1.28× as broad as high, ocelli large, POL 1.45× as long as OOL, 2× as long as AOL, AOL 0.72× OOL, head ( Figures 4, 5 View Figures 4–9 ), in frontal view, 1.31× (paratype, 1.13–1.21×) as broad as high with polygonal reticulate sculpture, eye height, 4.2× (paratype, 4.4–4.6×) as long as malar space, malar space 0.26× oral fossa, mandible with two long teeth, and several small teeth dorsally ( Figure 6 View Figures 4–9 ). Antennal toruli situated slightly above the lower eye margins. Antenna ( Figure 7 View Figures 4–9 ) with scape, 5.6× (paratype, 4.9–5.6×) as long as broad, 2.83× (paratype, 2.66–2.83×) as long as pedicel, pedicel 1.5× as long as broad, shorter than F1, flagellum with 3-anelli, funicle 3-segmented, F1 longer than broad, longer than F2 and F3 individually, F2 subequal to F3, all funicles with mps, clava 2–segmented, 2.65× as long as broad (including spicula), C1 longer and broader than C2, C2 conical with a small spicula, clava shorter than preceding two funicle segments combined, claval segments with mps.

Mesosoma ( Figs 10, 11 View Figures 10–14 ): Mesosoma 1.48× (paratype, 1.37–1.43×) as long as broad, pronotum narrow, prosternum with polygonal reticulate sculpture ( Figs 8, 9 View Figures 4–9 ), mesoscutum distinctly shorter than scutellum with 2 pair of setae, notauli complete, scutellum distinctly longer than broad with 1 pair of setae posteriorly, mesoscutum and scutellum with a longitudinal median groove ( Figs 10, 11 View Figures 10–14 ) and with polygonal reticulate sculpture ( Figure 12 View Figures 10–14 ), metanotum with dorsellum sub-triangular and sides of metanotum smooth ( Figure 13 View Figures 10–14 ), propodeum ( Figure 13 View Figures 10–14 ) with large irregular carinulae anteriorly, propodeal plicae complete enclosing spiracle. Fore wing ( Figure 2 View Figures 1–3 ) 2.53× (paratype, 2.39–2.47×) as long as broad, marginal vein + parastigma 1.24× (paratype, 1.26–1.28×) as long as submarginal vein, 5.14× (paratype, 5.07–5.42×) as long as stigmal vein, postmarginal vein 0.42× (paratype, 0.42–0.71×) stigmal vein. Hind wing ( Figure 3 View Figures 1–3 ) 5.93× (paratype, 5.17–5.29×) as long as broad.

Metasoma ( Figure 14 View Figures 10–14 ): Petiole 3.4× (paratype, 2.5–3.4×) as broad as long, gaster distinctly longer than mesosoma, 1.32× (paratype, 1.32–1.41×) as long as mesosoma, ovipositor almost as long as gaster, slightly exerted beyond apex of gaster and 1.97× (paratype, 2.09– 2.12) as long as hind tibia.

Antennal segments length: width – scape, 17: 3, pedicel, 6: 4, F1, 6: 4.5, F2, 5.75: 3.75, F3, 5.5: 4, C1, 5: 3.75, C2, 4: 2.75, spicula, 1.5, mesosoma length: width 49: 33. Fore wing length: width 104: 41, submarginal vein length, 29, parastigmal vein length, 4, marginal vein length, 32, stigma vein length, 7, post marginal vein length, 3. Hind wing length: width, 89: 15, hind tibia length, 34. Petiole length: width, 3: 10, gaster length, 65, ovipositor length, 67.

Male: Unknown.

Material examined: Holotype: Female (on slide under four cover slips, slide No. ENT.497), INDIA: Karnataka: Halavarthy , 11.xii.2020, Coll. A. Rameshkumar ( ZDAMU, registration No. HYM.CH.865).

Paratype: 1 female (on slides, slide Nos. ENT.498), with same data as for holotype , 1 female (slide Nos. ENT. 398), INDIA: West Bengal: Buxa Tiger Reserve ,

26.iii.2019, Coll. A. Rameshkumar ( ZDAMU, registration No. HYM. CH.865).

Host: Unknown.

Distribution: India: Karnataka, West Bengal.

Etymology: The species is named after the son (Mohammad Haziq) of the first author.

Comments: The new species Parzaommomyia haziqi sp. nov. comes close to P. malabarica Narendran (2004) , but it differs from the latter by the following characters: Head in dorsal view 1.28× as broad as high, POL 1.45× as long as OOL, F1 longer than F2 and F3 individually, scutellum with 1 pair of setae, fore wing 2.53× as long as broad, gaster 1.32× as long as mesosoma. In P. malabarica : Head in dorsal view 2.72× as broad as high, POL 3× as long as OOL, F1 shorter than F2 and F3 individually, scutellum with 2 pair of setae, fore wing 2.79× as long as broad, gaster 1.68× as long as mesosoma.
