Šafránek et M. Amaya lgt.” GoogleMaps .
Differential diagnosis. Phaeoxantha (Euphaeoxantha) wimmeri is very similar to P. (E.) klugii . As the elytral shape may be sometimes very similar in both these species due to the usual variability (but always shorter in P. (E.) wimmeri ), and as also their aedeagi are very similar, one other distinguishing character is the shape of the right mandible in males of P. (E.) wimmeri , which has the second tooth mostly tightly appressed to the terminal tooth and constantly markedly distant from the third tooth ( Figs 317 View FIGURES 313–318 , 319 View FIGURES 319–324 ). For other distinguishing characters see “Differential diagnosis” under P. (E.) klugii above.
Examined adult specimens are 22.5–26.1 mm long, 8.50–11.6 mm wide; the illustrated type specimens measure: length of the holotype (NHMB) 25.8 mm, width 11.3 mm; paratypes (SDEI) length of male 24.4 mm, width 10.2; length of female 24.3 mm, width 9.70 mm.
Distribution. Known only from Bolivia, hitherto only from the department of Santa Cruz ( Wiesner 2020), but three above-listed specimens from Villa Tunari come from the department of Cochabamba. Adults were taken on rather large sandy beaches of the rivers Yapacani ( Fig. 328 View FIGURES 327–328 ) and Surutú flowing from the mountain range to more open areas; Tetracha (Neotetracha) fulgida ( Klug, 1834) and T. (N.) thomsoniana (W. Horn, 1915) shared the same places (O. Šafránek, pers. com.). Pearson et al. (1999a) listed a great number of other records from the department of Santa Cruz, mostly from banks of Rio Surutú and Rio Piray (also spelled “Pirai”), from Yapacani as well as a number of specimens from Rio Ichilo on the border of the departments of Santa Cuz and Cochabamba.
