The presence of dorsal surface with complex pattern of longitudinal stripes and metameric papillae; nuchal scute absent; eyespots in one pair, punctiform, well separated from each other is consistent with the description of Helobdella socimulcensis (see Salas-Montiel et al., 2014). Found on the underside of submerged rocks and plants. Non-blood-feeding (liquidosomatophagous). New locality records: Río Fogótico, Arcotete, Chiapas, Mexico (16°44′46.5″N, 92°34′17.24″W; 2298 m), collected January 23, 2016, by M. Tessler, J. Arroyave, S. Contreras, and A.
