Description

Shell subquadrate, laterally compressed, length to 85 mm, inequivalve, left valve overlapping the concave margin of the right, inequilateral, posterior much longer, sculpture of broad lamellose, commarginal ridges. Interior of white nacre with chocolate brown periphery.

Type locality

Mie, Japan .

Distribution

Throughout the Indo-Pacific including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. On muddy, sandy and shelly bottoms and within coral heads.
