Description

Shell white, thin, moderately inflated, posterior margin elongated with anteriorly situated umbo and thus rectangular in shape. A ridge runs from the umbos to the posterior-ventral margin. Irregularly-spaced concentric growth lines.

Type locality

Otsu, Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture (near Tokyo) (fossil).

Distribution

Hokkaido to Kyushu, Japan, Korea to Bering Sea, East China Sea, Jiangsu, Shandong, Yellow Sea, Taiwan, Hong Kong. Attached to roots of seaweed or rocks, intertidal to 300 m deep. New record for Hong Kong.
