Description: ♀: Body length 11‒16 mm. Flagellum with 36‒38 flagellomeres, strongly lanceolate; 1 st flagellomere 1.9‒2.0× longer than wide; 2 nd flagellomere 1.9‒2.2× longer than wide, combined length 0.45‒0.51× eye length; 7 th or 8 th flagellomeres square, widest flagellomeres 2.5‒3.0× wider than long. Temple roundly narrowed be- hind eye. OED 1.1‒1.2× ocellar diameter. Frons rugose-punctate. Face coarsely punctate, finely granulate medially, smooth laterally. Clypeus smooth, with scattered punctures. Gena with very scattered punctures ventrally, 1.0‒1.2× wider than eye. MI 0.6‒0.7.

Mesosoma with brownish hairs. Notaulus impressed in frontqal 1/5 of mesoscutum. Mesoscutum densely punctate and granulate, ± opaque. Mesopleuron with coarse punctures, partly rugose or striate. Metapleuron punctate, partly striate. Scutellum as long as wide or slightly longer, with coarse punctures, without or with lateral carina in basal 0.3. Area superomedia heart-shaped, slightly longer than wide or square, granulate; anterior transversal carina in the middle. Area externa punctate. Hind coxa densely punctate, with scopa (length ¼ of coxal length). Hind femur 3.6‒4.1× longer than wide, 3 rd mid tarsomere 1.5‒1.7× longer than wide. Areolet almost quadrangular, frontal distance between veins 2rs-m and 3rs-m 1× their width; vein 2m-cu distad its middle. Vein 1cu-a postfurcal by 1‒2× its width.

Postpetiolus moderately widened, lateral field 0.4‒0.5× as wide as median field, the latter with fine aciculation and some apical punctures. Thyridium oblique, 1.0‒1.3× wider than the interval. 2 nd tergite 1.1× wider than long. 2 nd and 3 rd tergites rugose-punctate, with fine longitudinally rugose medially, 2 nd tergite striate between thyridia. 4 th tergite with superficial punctures, shining. 7 th tergite slightly longer than wide or wider than long. Seen from dorsal, ovipositor sheath 0.7‒1.5× as long as 7 th tergite.

Color: Black. Stripes on flagellomeres 6/7‒11/13, narrow frontal orbit, usually spot on vertex, often collare, scutellum (usually black in Japanese specimen), usually posterolateral spots on 1 st /2 nd tergites and sometimes on 3 rd and 4 th tergites yellow. Legs black, fore femur apically and fore tibia frontally yellowish. Wings sometimes ± infuscate, pterostigma brownish.

♂: Body length 15‒19 mm. Flagellum with 35‒37 flagellomeres, 1 st flagellomere 2.4× longer than wide. Tyloids on flagellomeres 6‒15, long-oval, maximally 0.5× as long as their flagellomeres. Temple strongly and roundly narrowed behind eye. OED 1.1× and OOD 1.1× ocellar diameter. Frons and face coarsely and densely punctate. Clypeus with scattered punctures in apical half. Gena 0.9× as wide as eye. MI 0.4.

Mesosoma with pale hairs. Notaulus distinctly impressed in frontal 1/5 of mesoscutum. Mesoscutum densely punctate and granulate. Mesopleuron and metapleuron densely punctate. Juxtacoxal carina present. Scutellum moderately elevated, slightly longer than wide, with desne punctures, without lateral carina. Area superomedia sickle- or horseshoe-shaped, longer than wide or wider than long. Area externa punctate. Fore metatarsus with small apical tooth; hind femur 4.2‒4.3× longer than wide. Areolet almost quadrangular, frontal distance between veins 2rs-m and 3rs-m 1× their width; vein 2m-cu distad its middle. Vein 1cu-a postfurcal by 2× its width.

Lateral field of postpetiolus with coarse punctures, 0.4× as wide as median field, median field with fine aciculation. Thyridium oblique, 0.9× as wide as the interval, interval about as wide as median field of postpetiolus. 2 nd tergite 1.1× longer than wide. 2 nd to 4 th tergites densely punctate, with longitudinal rugae medially.

Color: Black. Metasoma with ± bluish shine. Ivory are stripes on flagellomeres 10/12‒12/13, palps, labrum, side of clypeus, wide facial and narrow frontal orbit, usually spot on vertex, short stripe on ventral outer orbit, spot on ventral scapus, collare and upper margin of pronotum, spot on tegula, subtegular ridge, usually scutellum and postscutellum, often caudal half of area dentipara, apical bands on postpetiolus and 2 nd to 3 rd /4 th tergites (medially interrupted on 4 th tergite), usually frontal spots on fore and mid coxae, sometimes anterodorsal spot on hind coxa, frontal stripes on fore leg and on mid femur and tibia. Wings slightly infuscate, pterostigma brown.

Remarks: In Japanese females, the mesosoma is often completely black and the ivory metasomal spots are reduced. The ivory coloration in Japanese males is variable, but usually more extended than it is found in the European material.

Distribution: Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Sado Is., Shikoku and Kyushu), Korea, Far East Russia ( Uchida 1935; Ohmori 1959; Yu et al., 2016; in this study). This species has a transpalaearctic distribution.
