Augochloropsis (Glyptobasia) Moure

Augochlora (Glyptobasis) Moure, 1940: 48 . Type species: Augochlora chloera Moure, 1940: 48 , by original designation (junior homonym of Glyptobasis McLachlan, 1871).

Glyptobasia Moure, 1941: 98 . Replacement name for Glyptobasis Moure, 1940.

Diagnosis

Females of Augochloropsis (Glyptobasia) are readily diagnosable by the vertex weakly acuminate (1 OD), not strongly roof-shaped and not elevated in frontal view as in A. Glyptochlora (see Celis & Melo (2022)). Pronotum with external margin of the dorsal ridge strongly sinuous ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2C–D View FIGURE 2 , blue arrows), straight in A. Glyptochlora (see Celis & Melo (2022)). Mesoscutum with coarse punctures on disc, strongly microtessellate in between (foveate in A. ( Glyptochlora )) ( Figs. 1A–B View FIGURE 1 , 2C–D View FIGURE 2 ), parapsidal lines weakly impressed and not elevated as in A. ( Glyptochlora ), see Celis & Melo (2022). Metapostnotum strongly depressed (originally indicated by Moure, 1940), with central ridge (see Figs. 1E–F View FIGURE 1 ). Propodeum with lateral expansions ( Figs. 1D–F View FIGURE 1 , red arrows), comparatively smaller and not carinate than A. ( Glyptochlora ) ( Figs. 3C, D View FIGURE 3 ; see Celis & Melo (2022)). T1 without dorsolateral line and anterior margin rounded (flattened in A. ( Glyptochlora ), see Celis & Melo (2022)) ( Figs. 3D View FIGURE 3 , 4D View FIGURE 4 , 7D View FIGURE 7 ). T1–T4 with marginal zone slightly depressed, narrow, entirely covered by contiguous fine punctures and tomentose setae; dorsal surface of the all terga covered by dense, short, white or yellow setae, intermixed with semierect dark bristles, most conspicuous on T3 and T4. T1 and T2 with conspicuous vibrissae ( Fig. 7D View FIGURE 7 ) (absent in A. ( Glyptochlora ), see Celis & Melo (2022)). Male with frons, mesoscutum, scutellum, metanotum, meso- and metepisternum and lateral angle with crowded large punctures ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 , 6 View FIGURE 6 ); S3 externally with posterior margin straight, without forming a sinuous margin as in A. ( Augochloropsis ); S4 without lateral process and with posterior margin with small triangular medial projection (see fig. 45 in Santos 2014 and fig. 22D in Celis & Cure 2017).

Identification key to the species of Augochloropsis (Glyptobasia)

This key includes characteristics of females of A. bertonii and A. aenea sp. nov..

1. Body coloration either bright green or mostly violet with bluish-green reflections ( Figs. 3–6 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 View FIGURE 6 ). Mesoscutum disc with open (1–2 PD) large punctures ( Figs. 1A View FIGURE 1 ; 2C View FIGURE 2 ). Metapostnotum distinctly depressed, posterior margin of its dorsal surface truncated, forming a trapezoidal structure and bordered by a strong carina ( Figs. 1F View FIGURE 1 , 3C View FIGURE 3 )... Augochloropsis bertonii ( Schrottky, 1909)

- Body coloration dark coppery green ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). Mesoscutum disc with denser (<1 PD), somewhat smaller punctures in comparison to A. bertonii ( Figs. 1B View FIGURE 1 ; 2D View FIGURE 2 ). Metapostnotum slightly depressed, apex rounded, forming a semicircular structure and not bordered by a strong carina ( Figs. 1E View FIGURE 1 , 7C View FIGURE 7 )........................................ Augochloropsis aenea sp. nov.
