Dacnochilus LeConte, 1861 View in CoL
Dacnochilus LeConte 1861: 66 View in CoL .
Acalophaena Sharp 1886: 554 View in CoL . Jiménez-Sánchez and Galián 2013 (synonym of Dacnochilus View in CoL ).
Diagnosis and Comments. Dacnochilus is recognized within Lathrobiini by a combination of: metatibia with well-developed ctenidium on both outer and inner faces; pronotum no more than about as long as wide, disc either without or with very few punctures. The more compact species of the former genus Acalophaena Sharp were recently shown to be derived from within the less modified genus Dacnochilus by Jiménez-Sánchez and Galián (2013). However, the authors did not mention the similar genus Paederopsis Wasmann with four species (three in Brazil, one in the United States) ( Newton 2019). Paederopsis may be another synonym of Dacnochilus , as at least one of its species (see below) was found to belong to that genus.
