Distribution in the Balkans. Bulgaria: Kush Bunar near Sliven (type locality); Stara Planina Mts.: Tvarditsa Hut between Tvarditsa and Elena, Central Balkan National Park; Rhodopes Mts.: Asenova Fortress; Vitosha Mt: Selimitsa Peak; Sredna Gora Mts.: on the road between Strelcha and Koprivshtitsa, Dushkov Pchelin Locality; Strandzha Mt.: Dokuzak Locality near Malko Tarnovo, Indje Voivoda, Grivitsa, near Ropotamo River ( Vagalinski & Stoev 2007); Romania: Dobrugea ( Täbäcaru 1966).

World distribution. Found only in the territory of the Balkan Peninsula, if Dobrugea is included, as in the definition used in the present paper.

Remarks. This species is new to the fauna of Turkey, and occurs in the European part of the country. Usually collected from forest habitats, between 200–1500m a.s.l. Type species of subgenus Phauloiulus Attems, 1940 .
