Distribution in the Balkans. Slovenia: Lower Carniolan (Dolenjska) hillside and Gorjanci Mt. ( Strasser 1966a).

World distribution. This subspecies can be found in Austria (type locality in Graz) (Schmölzer– Falkenberg 1975), North Croatia ( Attems 1929a), Germany ( Reip & Lindner 2007), Hungary ( Loksa 1984), Romania ( Crişan 1999), Slovakia ( Mock 2001).

Remarks. Nominotypical subspecies of Megaphyllum projectum , the type species of the genus. Its taxonomic status was recently clarified by Lazányi & Korsós (2011).
