Type species: Angustocera plana sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Small, narrow and dorso-ventrally compressed species.Head only little conical, anterior margin appearing rounded in lateral view, but fastigium verticis projecting, long and narrow, with acute tip; dorsal surface of head with concave depression in middle; face elongate and strongly reclinate. Pronotum elongate with transverse furrows hardly indicated, with very narrow lateral lobes; ventral-apical margin in male prolonged and faintly concave, in female short with faint humeral sinus. Tegmina reduced to stridulatory area in male, squamitpterous in female. Legs of normal size but more or less compressed and with ventral margins partly fused. Tibial tympana present but with openings minute.
Etymology. The new genus is named for the long, narrow and dorso-ventrally compressed shape of the body.
