Diagnosis. Recognized among species of Ommatides by males submacropterous without membrane and not quite reaching tip of abdomen, and females macropterous with small membrane reaching tip of abdomen; males with dorsal lobes of expanded 1st labial segment extremely expanded with many (variable number) short, stout setae and without processes on 4th labial segments; spiracle 8 set upon basally sclerotized tubercle of tergum 8 process. Most similar to O. pillcopata sp. nov., but distinguished by being macropterous, and by basally sclerotized tubercle of tergum 8 process.

Description. Male: submacropterous without membrane and not quite reaching tip of abdomen; total body length: 1.53–1.87 mm; body elongate ovoid. COLORATION: wings dark brown, with pale stripe between costa and clavus; head, pronotum, and body dark brown; 1st and 2nd labial segments yellow; 3rd and top of 4th labial segments tan; tip of 4th labial segments black; legs yellow with brown patches on coxae and brown apex of tibia and tarsi ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). SURFACE AND VESTITURE: Dorsally expanded 1st labial segment with many (variable number) short, stout setae; forefemur without anterior spicules; 2nd tarsomere of hind leg with 2 stout setae anteroventrally. STRUCTURE. HEAD: disc declivous; 1st labial segment extremely expanded dorsally ( Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 , 3 View FIGURE 3 , 5 View FIGURE 5 ); 2nd labial segment elongate; 3rd and 4th labial segments shorter and of about same size. THORAX: ratio of pronotal collar length to pronotum length 0.24–0.28; collar depressed below rest of pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); posterolateral margin of pronotum somewhat deeply and somewhat broadly concave; postnotum rounded; ratio of height to length of forefemur 0.23; tarsal formula 3-3-3; ratio of length of hind tibia to width of pronotum 1.18–1.21; venation of macropterous forewing as in Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ; tc shaped like flattened pentagon; dc forming very thin, long rectangle; An1 meets Cu. ABDOMEN AND GENITALIA: as in genus description ( Fig. 9 A,B View FIGURE 9 ), with spiracle 8 set upon basally sclerotized tubercle of tergum 8 process ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ).

Female: macropterous with small membrane reaching tip of abdomen; length: 1.87–2.07 mm; body elongate ovoid. COLORATION: wings dark brown, with pale stripe between costa and clavus; pronotum and scutellum dark brown; head, and body brown; 1st and 2nd labial segments yellow, 3rd and top of 4th labial segments tan, 4th labial segment with black tip; legs yellow with brown patches on coxae and tarsi. SURFACE AND VESTITURE: labium as in generic description; vestiture on legs as in male. STRUCTURE. HEAD: as in generic description. THORAX: ratio of pronotal collar length to pronotum length 0.25–0.26; collar not or only slightly depressed below rest of pronotum ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); posterolateral margin of pronotum deeply and somewhat broadly concave; postnotum slightly squared; ratio of height to length of forefemur 0.21–0.24; tarsal formula 2-2-3; ratio of length of hind tibia to width of pronotum 1.14–1.25; venation of macropterous forewing as in male. ABDOMEN AND GENITALIA: as in genus description ( Fig. 9 C,D View FIGURE 9 ), with anterior gonapophysis with 3 teeth (anterior tooth rounded, middle and posterior teeth sharply pointed) and posterior gonapophysis with 2 teeth (posterior and anterior tooth sharply pointed).

Etymology. Named after the sawfish genus Pristis Linck, for the abundance of setae on the dorsally expanded 1st labial segment, reminiscent of the many teeth on the rostrum of this shark.

Distribution. Known from the Northern Range of Trinidad; although sympatric with O. tridentis sp. nov. in that area, O. pristis sp. nov. was collected in rainforest habitat, while the two specimens of O. tridentis sp. nov. were collected at the intersection between rainforest and grassland.

Macrohabitat and Collecting method: Tropical rainforest; Yellow Pan Trap.
