Body strongly elongated, surface striate. Rostrum narrowly rounded. Lamellar lines present, long, thin, curving backwards at ventral end, sublamellar lines absent. Rostral and sublamellar setae medial to lamellar lines. Bothridial setae clavate, fusiform, lanceolate. Postanal porose area present. Notogastral setae represented by 10

8. This genus is probably monophyletic (apomorphies: notogastral setae represented by 14 or 15 pairs of alveoli; two pairs of setae on pteromorphs). On our tree, Vaghia blascoi and V. uniporosa form a separate lineage due to the absence of sexual dimorphism (present in the remaining three species of Vaghia ).
