Cross-referencing by de SAUSSURE (1890, 1891, 1892) makes it clear that all three of his spellings refer to the same taxon and there are no explanations for the variations; the later spellings are thus "incorrect subsequent spellings" and the first available spelling must be retained as the correct original spelling (Article 32.2 of the Code); the provisions of Article 33.3.1 relating to the retention of prevailing incorrect spellings do not apply since there is no way to determine "prevailing usage" amongst the four possibilities for a name that has been used so seldom.
