Amphicrossus densatus Grouvelle 1908a: 383 ; Grouvelle 1913: 151.
No specimens were studied. A photograph was obtained from Mr. Gareth Powell, Purdue University, and Dr. Andrew Cline, Senior Insect Biosystematist, California Department of Food and Agriculture, Plant Pest Diagnostics Center, Sacramento, USA.
Diagnosis. Body ( Fig. 28 View Figs ) oblong, rather broad, moderately convex, somewhat shiny, tawny maroon, more reddish on sides of prothorax and elytra; cuticle covered with thin, golden, recumbent pubescence, longest on prothorax, short and interspersed with longer setae curved posteriorly on the elytra. Head: Densely punctate. Antennae rather short, club oblong, about as long as antennomeres 3–8 combined. Prothorax: Transverse (LP:WP = 1.0:2.5), sides ciliate, posterior margin truncate near scutellar shield, somewhat sinuate on either side of scutellum, corners rounded and obliquely subtruncate; anterior angles bluntly obtuse, posterior angles distinctly obtuse. Pronotum densely and finely punctate. Scutellum: Small, transverse, subtriangular. Elytra: Slightly longer than broad, apices truncate, broadly rounded at external apical angles. Last segment of male abdomen subtruncate, armed in the middle with a small, prominent, triangular lobe; fascicle of elytra arranged against the suture, just before the posterior third of its length.
