Revised diagnosis (modified from Barnard, 1954, p.156): octopodous; body distinctly segmented. Abdomen articulating with fourth trunk segment. Proboscis with basal flexible peduncle, tapering or bulbous. Chelifores absent. Palp absent in both genders or present (two-articled) in the male. Oviger of 10 articles with terminal claw, article 5 bulbous. Legs robust, coxa 2 longer than coxa 1 or 3, femur swollen; propodus with or without heel; main claw robust; auxiliary claws absent. Ventrodistal gonopore on coxae of last two pairs of legs.
