FAMILY LEIOCEPHALIDAE (I) Frost & Etheridge 1989, 45
(1 introduced genus and species)
Leiocephalus (I) Gray 1827, 207 (1 introduced species)
Leiocephalus varius (I) Garman 1887, 274. McCranie (2011a) considered this a full species (but without justification) and not a subspecies of L. carinatus Gray (1827 [p. 208]) . Powell & Henderson (2012) also listed this Honduran endemic as a full species. Solís et al. (2014), without comment, continued to list this species as L. carinatus . That issue will be discussed in more detail in McCranie (in prep.; the non-dactyloid lizards, crocodyles, and turtles of Honduras).
