(2 genera, 4 species). Several authors (i.e. Vidal et al. 2007, Solís et al. 2014) have credited the incorrect publication ( Bonaparte 1840) for the origin of the name Natricidae . The name was first introduced by Bonaparte (1838, as Natricina). Wallach et al. (2014) credited Boettger (1883) for the Natricidae .
