Herb, erect, 30–45 cm high; young branches terete, white puberulous. Leaves simple. Stipules cordate or lanceolate, 1.5–5 × 1–3 mm, white puberulous, persistent. Petioles 0.5–3 mm long, silvery pubescent. Lamina ovate, 0.7–5 × 0.2–2.3 cm, base cuneate, apex acute, margin entire, both surfaces white puberulous; lateral veins inconspicuous. Inflorescences leaf-opposed or axillary open racemes with 1–2 flowers, 1.5–3 cm long; peduncle 0.5–2 cm long, white puberulous. Bracts narrowly linear, 0.8–2 mm long, persistent. Pedicels 1–1.8 mm long, white pubescent. Bracteoles inserted distally on the pedicel, narrowly linear, 1–1.5 mm long, caducous. Calyx 5–6 mm long, campanulate, bilabiate; tube 0.5–1.5 mm long; lobes triangular, 2.5–4 mm long, glabrous inside, white pubescent outside. Corolla yellow. Standard: claw ca. 0.5 mm long, glabrous; blade orbicular, 3.8–4 × 3.7–3.8 mm, base rounded, apex acuminate, margin glabrous. Wings: claw 0.3–0.5 mm long, glabrous; blade oblong, 3–3.6 × 1–1.3 mm, base oblique, apex acute or obtuse, margin glabrous. Keel: claw 0.4–0.5 mm long, glabrous; blade ovate, 3–3.5 × 1.7–1.8 mm, beak spirally twisted, base oblique, apex attenuate, margin white pubescent. Stamens: filaments fused for proximal 1–1.3 mm, free for distal 1–2.5 mm; anthers either narrowly linear, 0.4–0.5 mm long or elliptic, ca. 0.1 mm long. Ovary sessile, glabrous, oblong, 1.5–2 mm long; style 2.5–2.8 mm long, adaxially white puberulous in a single line along the distal edge, abaxially glabrous. Pods sessile, oblong, 1–1.7 × 0.2–0.4 cm, brown-black, glabrous. Seeds harp-shaped, 0.8–1 × 1–1.3 mm, yellow-green.

Ecology: —Deciduous forests, elevation 370 − 1300 m.
Notes: — Crotalaria filiformis has distinctive cordate or lanceolate stipules, ovate leaves and narrowly linear bracts and bracteoles. Type specimen of C. filiformis (Wallich 5389) and C. kerrii (Kerr 2352) have more than one duplicate therefore lectotypes of both name are selected here.
