Oodescelis (Acutoodescelis) punctatissima henanana Bai & Ren , subsp. nov.
(Figs. 1, 3–4, 17–18, 45–46)
Diagnosis. This new subspecies is similar to O. punctatissima emmerichi , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters: (1) elytral punctures smaller than those on pronotum and much sparser (as large as, slightly sparser in O. punctatissima emmerichi ); (2) base of parameres parallel at sides (not parallel in O. punctatissima emmerichi ).
Description. Body brown, shining.
Male (Figs. 1, 17–18, 45). Head. Anterior margin of frontoclypeus straight, frons and genae weakly convex, with dense and coarse punctures. Eyes transverse, with shallowly emarginate anterior margin. Antennae (Fig. 1: A) reaching beyond pronotal base, 2nd to 8th antennomeres cylindrical and thicker at apex, 9th to 10th almost spherical, and 11th sharped-oval. Length (width) ratio of 2nd to 11th antennal segments 26 (23): 81 (26): 54 (26): 48 (25): 47 (23): 40 (24): 46 (30): 42 (32): 39 (36): 52 (30).
Prothorax. Pronotum (Fig. 1: B) transverse and convex, widest at base, 1.5 times as wide as long, 2.0 times as wide as head. Ratio of width at anterior margin to basal 30: 50. Lateral margins nearly parallelled from base to middle and arcuately narrowing toward apex. Anterior margin deeply emarginate, posterior one sinuate. Anterior angles sharp, posterior ones rectangular and sharp. Anterior margin edged laterally, posterior one not edged, entire lateral margins edged, disc weakly flattened at sides. Punctures round and coarse, dense at middle and much denser at sides. Prothoracic hypomera with wrinkles, sparse and yellow setae. Prosternum before procoxae with yellow setae, prosternal process projecting beyond level of procoxae, sharp at apex in lateral view.
Elytra oval and weakly convex, base wider than that of pronotum and widest at middle, 1.2 times as long as wide and 1.2 times as wide as pronotum. Surface with punctures smaller than pronotum and much sparser, and fine wrinkles. Lateral carinae reaching sutural angle and visible almost completely in dorsal view.
Abdomen. Abdominal ventrites 1, 2 and 5 with setal brush at middle.
Legs. Profemora with tooth on inner side. Protibiae (Fig. 1: D) gradually widened towards apex and curved, inner side with dense yellow setae from middle to apex. Protarsi (Fig. 1: C) moderately widened and nearly equal width with apex of protibiae. Mesotibiae (Fig. 1: E) curved, with dense yellow setae. Mesotarsi (Fig. 1: F) weakly widened, longitudinal and narrower than apex of mesotibiae. Metafemora with dense yellow hairbrush on the underside from base to middle. Metatibiae (Fig. 1: G) thin and straight, with dense yellow setae. Length (width) ratio of pro-, meso- and metafemora 20 (10): 24 (7): 29 (8), that of corresponding tibiae 21 (6): 21 (6): 29 (6), and protarsi 20 (38): 24 (49): 20 (47): 18 (40): 35 (20), mesotarsi 30 (32): 25 (38): 22 (35): 18 (30): 40 (18), metatarsi (Fig. 1: H) 83 (25): 35 (24): 33 (23): 50 (19).
Aedeagus (Figs. 1: I–K, 17–18) 2.5 mm long and 0.8 mm wide. Parameres 0.8 mm long and 0.5 mm wide, widest at base, basal part more parallel and narrowing forward, lateral margins deeply emarginate before apex and rounded apically in dorsal view.
Female ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 43–48 ). Body wider, abdomen without setal brush, metafemora without hairbrush on the underside, pro- and mesotarsi not widened, other characters similar to male.
Measurements. Body length: ♂ 11.3–13.2 mm, ♀ 12.4–14.5 mm and width: ♂ 6.1–7.0 mm, ♀ 6.8–7.3 mm.
Type material. Holotype: ♂ ( MHBU), CHINA : Henan: Huangshian, Xixia , 18.VIII.2008 , Guo-Dong Ren & Qi-Qi Wu et al. leg . Paratypes: 19 ♂♂, 11♀♀ ( MHBU), same data as holotype ; 1♀ ( MHBU), Huangshian, Xixia , 23.VI.1986, Yao Niu leg. ; 1 ♂ ( MHBU), Huaguo Shan, Yiyang , 2–5.VIII.2006, Feng-Yan Wang & Wen-Jing Huang leg. ; 1 ♂, l ♀ ( MHBU), Huaguo Shan, Yiyang , 4.VIII.2006, Feng-Yan Wang & Wen-Jing Huang leg. ; 5 ♂♂, 5♀♀ ( MHBU), Baiyun Shan, Song Xian, 14–17.VIII.2008 , Guo-Dong Ren & Qi-Qi Wu et al. leg .
Distribution. China: Henan.
Etymology. This subspecies name is derived from the type locality—Henan.
Remarks. This new subspecies is most closely related to O. punctatissima emmerichi , but differs from the latter by elytral punctures and paramere shape (see the key above). The distinctiveness of this new subspecies was also be confirmed in the phylogentic analysis ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).
